About GBOolder

The Project

GBOolder is a community project built on open-source software.

Our goal is to make discovering bouldering around Gothenburg fun, accurate, and respectful of nature.

We welcome suggestions and contributions from the local climbing community. Feel free to contact us!

Data & license

Problem names, grades, and initial area data come from GBO (Bouldering Göteborg & Västkusten), licensed under CC BY-NC-SA 4.0.

Attribution example: Problem data originally from GBO, improved by the GBOolder community.

GBOolder-derived data and community contributions use the same NC-SA license. The app codebase is forked from Boolder — see upstream licenses for code.

The community

GBOolder is maintained by volunteers. Want to help with mapping, code, or data? See the contribute page.

A collaborative platform

The code is available in open source on GitHub.

You can also contribute by mapping missing problems, improving GPS, or reporting mistakes.

The story

GBOolder is a community-driven bouldering guide for Gothenburg and the Swedish west coast, forked from the open-source Boolder project.

We started from the rich problem database maintained by GBO (Bouldering Göteborg & Västkusten) and aim to improve GPS accuracy, boulder outlines, and topos through community mapping.

The codebase and mapping workflow come from Boolder — a modern platform for interactive maps, topo photos, and contributions.

Thanks

Thanks to GBO for maintaining the original Gothenburg bouldering database, and to the Boolder team for the open-source platform this project builds on.

Special thanks to GBO for problem data and to the Boolder project for the app architecture.
